| School
Administrative Services |
| Chapter
4 PA School Code |
| Mainly
given on-site, technical assistance programs and services facilitate
school
districts' compliance
with state regulations K-12. These activities range from daily and
weekly seminars to working "one-on-one,” with administrators
and educators. |
| Curriculum
Development/Planned Instruction K-12 |
| Using
a "design down" approach to curriculum development, curriculum
specialists across all networks help committees of educators write
planned instruction. Staff development focuses on graduation requirements,
standards, and assessments. This service is provided on-site to the
districts which request it. |
| Curriculum,
Instruction, and Assessment 3-Day Evaluation Process |
| Under the direction of NEIU,
a three-day, on-site needs assessment evaluation of a school's teaching
and learning program is conducted by a team of approximately 25 educators
and administrators from school districts across Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Focusing on 10 general areas and all subject areas, a report is generated
which enables school personnel to prioritize goals for improvement.
Educators participating in this program must be tenured, recommended
by an administrator, and attend a comprehensive staff development session
in preparation for this on-site visit. |
| Instructional
Program Planning Council (IPPC) |
| This council is composed of a representative
from each of the school districts. This committee meets four times
a year, in October, December, February, and April. The primary function
of this program is to provide current profiles of programs and services
locally, regionally, statewide, and nationally for districts' consideration. |
| Professional
Development Plan (Act 48) |
| Assistance is provided to district educators
in preparing Professional Development Plans due every three years.
Now part of the strategic plan, professional development focuses on
professional growth opportunities for all educators. |
| Continuing
Professional Education (CPE) |
| CPE offers courses that give educators
the opportunity to acquire graduate level credits. These courses are
approved by the NEIU CPE Council and the Pennsylvania Department of
Education. The credits are applicable to an educator's permanent certification
and/or a Master's Equivalency certified by the Pennsylvania Department
of Education. These credits can also be used to fulfill Act 48 requirements. |
| Data
Retreats |
| Data Retreats are conducted on-site at
NEIU to help district or building level leadership teams disaggregate
and analyze student achievement, program, perception, and demographic
data. Using information gathering tools that assess student achievement,
teams identify and prioritize goals, design specific strategies and
define criteria to guide Instructional practice and promote overall
school improvement. |
